Welcome to your first year at Mercers Wood Academy!
We have a busy year ahead of us, to start our term we will be learning ‘All about me’!
When learning ‘All about me’ we will find out what you like and dislike, help you find what you are good at, how we can help you to be resilient when facing challenges and how to aspire to try new things!
We also learn how to become great citizens in our community and even better friends by learning the skills to respect and understand each other.
Our classroom has many areas to explore, learn and play in: Water, playdough, creative, maths, small world, roleplay and a reading corner. We also have many more areas in our corridor and outdoor area.

Spare clothing
Throughout our day at school, there are times when we may get messy, wet or have toilet accidents. This is because we are busy learning!
Please send in spare clothes including pants and socks to keep in your child’s locker or have some in the bottom of their school bag. This is to help your child be as comfortable as possible throughout the school day.
Tapestry
We use Tapestry to log your child’s learning and share pictures with you throughout the school year. You are welcome to upload milestones you have at home as it is lovely to see what you do outside of school. Feel free to ask any member of EYFS staff if you need any help or have any questions.
