Hello!
We’re Mercer’s Wood Academy’s school council.
Who are we?
We are a group of students from year 2 to year 6. Each class uses democracy, which is one of our British values, to vote for two councillors who we think are best suited to the role. A good school councillor is responsible, motivated, creative, encouraging, confident, respectful, resilient, focused and a good listener.
What do we do?
We have regular meetings each term to plan and discuss events and how to improve the school. We plan charity events and what’s best for the school and its students.
What impact do we have?
We have helped plan and organise events such as a whole school art day and a ‘school council run the school’ day. We’ve helped raise money for charities such as Children In Need and Comic Relief. We are role models for the other children in school and demonstrate our four school values.
